Monday morning was cooler, clouds rolled in most of the day, keeping the temp down.
Tuesday, we went to the beach. It was very windy. Larry did go in the water; the waves were higher than normal, for here. The fish boats did not go out due to the high waves; they were not bigger than 3 feet. At home in Oregon, it is nothing for our waves to be 3 feet high. We have gone out deep sea fishing in higher waves than 3 feet.
Today after Tai Chi we caught the gray bus to Santa Cruz. We thought it was on the beach but the walk to the beach from town was about a mile. We did not make it to the beach.
We did get to see a lot of smaller villages between here and Santa Cruz that we had not seen before. The bus to Santa Cruz was 30 pesos for both of us, and was the same coming back on a better bus. Only on the way back we did not go to some of the smaller villages that we did on the way there.
Larry had a torta in Santa Cruz for 22 pesos, He really did not say but I think it was not as good as the ones he gets here.
I bought a half of a chicken that had been grilled and some baked potatoes for 40 pesos here in San Blas. It was really good chicken and because I did not get the rice and tortillas that come with the chicken he gave me a discount on the price.
For the day we spent 122 pesos or less than $12.20, not including the rent on our bungalow.
We try to keep our budget at $35 US a day when we are not traveling to other parts of Mexico. So far in the last 3 years we have been able to do this. Some days here we may spend $10.00 including our rent, which gives us $25.00 towards the next day for spending on going somewhere else or going out for our Tuesday night steak dinner. Which we can do for less than 200 pesos or $20.00 us including drinks.
The cost is more when you travel, but remember I am saying we live here on an average of $35.00 a day, what I don’t spend of that today I can spend tomorrow, or whenever.
We have never spent more than $1000.00 a month while touring or living the winter months here in Mexico.
