January 25, 2009
I didn’t go for my morning walk as feet hurt a little. I also have small blisters on my toes.
Ann and Doug came by, we walked down to the library were we could see how many boats were anchored in the estuary.
Ann and Doug said they would meet us at the beach for us to go on down and find a new palapa to set in and they would find us.
Larry and I found the one that Ellen goes to and ordered his beer and my Coke. Ann showed up without Doug as he had laid down and fell asleep. Ellen showed up and sat down with us.
I decided not to go into the water as I did get a little too much sun yesterday. So Larry was the only one that went in.
Ann asked us over for dinner at 6. I had forgotten that Larry wanted to go to Charlie’s new café and said we would have dinner with them.
As it turned out Charlie didn’t open, this was to be his first night but some of the things he had ordered had not been delivered.
After dinner we all walked down to the plaza to watch the folk dancers. Today was the first day of the bird festival. There will be performances every night this week on the plaza.

January, 24, 2009 Saturday sábado
Ann was here just before 7 for our walk. We walked to the beach and back. We walked just over 2 miles.
We planned to go to WalaWalas for breakfast but it was closed. We went to the Saturday market, Larry bought some vegetables, for 28 pesos.
We went to the beach and meant up with Ann and Doug at the same place we had been before the happy Jejen (bug). Doug and I had a soda pop, Ann had one beer and Larry had three.
When we got our bill it was 50 pesos more than it should have been. On Saturday and Sunday they charge 50 pesos for use of the table if you don’t buy food, but did not inform us of this when we sat down. This is the only place that we are aware of that does this. We will not return we will find another place to go to. It is called El Jejen Feliz, or the happy bug.
The water was great. The waves were higher than we have seen here this year. We had a lot of fun jumping the waves.

January 23, 2009 Friday viernes
I went to Ann’s before 7 this morning to surprise her for our morning walk. We walked to the lagoon to see the birds but must have been too early for most of them. There were only a few ducks and wading birds.
We had a great walk, yesterday we walked just over a mile but today we walked just over two.
Right after our Tia Chi class we caught a blue 10:00 NAYRIT bus to Los Cocos, where Val and Ray are staying. It is a nice place, with a great view of the ocean. They are about 18 feet above the beach and have stairs to the beach. They also have a pool they can use, when it gets filled with water which was to happen today.
We had a nice lunch with them, and then walked down the road to catch the 2:25 bus back to San Blass. The fare was 15 pesos each one way. So we paid 60 pesos for the bus, it would have been 50 to 60 pesos for a taxi, one way.

January 22, 2009 Thursday jueves
Ann was here at 7 AM to go for a walk. We walked over a mile at a great pace. I was able to show her some places that she had not seen before, some of them I have not been to this year.
Larry and I went to the market to get some things we were out of. We were going to get some fish but still have food that we need to use before it is too old to eat.
We went to the beach with Ann and Doug. We sat at a different palapa. Beer was 12 pesos which is less than the last ones we were at. It was really nice, the food (which we did not get) cost more but they had things that other places did not have, like fish taco’s. He also said the lobster was 15 dollars, but I don’t know if that was for just one lobster.
You need to look at each palapa on the beach and see what they have to offer. Some have good clean bathrooms but most don’t. You can only use the bathrooms if you order something. Most of the time Larry gets a beer and I get a soda pop. Today I did get a coconut, which they cut open so you can drink the milk. Only the milk from these coconuts milk is clear.
Today I took my first anti reflex pill. I have coughed only once, which is a big change. I am hoping that they will continue to work.
January 21, 2009 Wednesday miércoles
Mosquitoes were biting early this morning. I could hear them buzzing by my ear and started itching were they had bitten me. I had kicked off the blanket during the night as it was hot. It was too hot to pull the sheet up over my head to keep the bugs away. I don’t know what time they finely went away. Larry said he was bitten too.
We started to walk to the bank to exchange some big peso bills for some smaller ones when we ran into Val and Ray. They were talking to another couple and wanted to know how we got to Santiago last year. We talked with them for a while before going on to the bank.
Larry was going to get some fish today but decided it looked to old.
I went to Kane’s mini super to get some pina juice and peanuts. I decided that I would stop by Ann and Doug’s to let them know where we were going for lunch. Ann was walking down the street by the school. She was taking her laundry to get it done. So I walked with her to the Lavanderia Mimi. We then walked back to our bungalow.
Larry and I went to the economico for lunch. I was hoping to get a chili rellenos but he didn’t make them today. We decided to go to a different economico that Ron had told us about.
I had a chicken soup, Larry had eggs ranchero. He said his was real good, my soup was better than I thought it would be. I think the tortillas were made right there as they looked homemade. We paid 70 pesos for our meal that’s less than $7.00 US.
While we were eating we saw the bread being delivered to the store were we buy it, so we bought some bread before heading back home.
At the Plaza Jim was talking to Ron about some medical problems he was having, Ron said he would see what he could do to find someone to help him. This opened the door for me to ask Ron how to go about finding pills for my acid reflex as I have been out for at least 6 months. We don’t have health insurance; I can’t afford to buy NEXICUM in the states.
He took us to several places to find the pills I need. The first one did have NEXICUM but the price for 7 pills was 375 pesos. They did have some other pills that were like NEXICUM at 106 pesos for 7 pills. The last place we went to had generic pills, 30 for 120 pesos. I bought them, hope they work,
I had been using PEPCID Complete, which sort of helped, but I really need more. We will see how this goes.

January 20, 2009 Tuesday martes
Ann was here at 7 to go walking. I had over slept and was not even dressed, so did not go walking.

The weather looked better today so we decided we would go to the beach, in the afternoon.
The palapa restaurant we decided to set in must have been closed as no one came to ask if we wanted anything. Larry went out in the water right away but I waited for Ann and Doug to show up. We sat in the palapa for quite some time before Ann and I decided to set out in the sun. However the sun was hiding behind clouds most of the time. When we finely decided to go into the water we only went in knee deep. We said the water was cold but we also realized that we would not be dry by the time we were ready to go back home.

The four of us went to the social club for steak dinner. I thought Bridget was going to show up but she had told me not to wait for her. The prices for the steaks have changed. They dropped from 125 pesos to 99 pesos, and up on Tuesday nights to 75 pesos. It is still a good price. We all ordered our steaks medium rare, I know mine should have been cooked a little more, and if we had been setting where there was more light so we could have seen how they looked we would have asked for them to be cooked a little longer.

We all went to the plaza to say hi to everone.

January 19, 2009 Monday lunes
It was cloudy this morning and humid. We did go to Tai Chi class but because of the humidity we cut it short.

Val and Ray showed up to visit today. They are staying about ten miles out of town. We had a very nice visit with them.

I walked down town with them to show them were the bakery had moved too. Then went to see how Ann and Doug were doing. Ann and I walked to the rotisserie chicken place to get some cooked chicken and baked potatoes.

Larry and I went to the plaza, had ice cream as we hadn’t had any for a while. Larry went home early. I stayed to talk with some of our new friends before going back home.

January 17, 2009 Saturday sábado
Larry took our laundry down to have done around 8:30 this morning. They told him it won’t be done until 7:00.

We went to the Saturday market to get our vegetables for the next few day, 2 potatoes, 1 avocado, 6 limes, 2 cucumbers and some strawberries for 20 pesos. At another vendor we got toilet paper (4 roll pack), instant coffee, and a small can of mushrooms for 60 pesos.

We were looking for a pair of shorts for Larry but couldn’t find any he liked. We did find a pair I thought I could ware, they are a size bigger than what I get at home but they are real tight around my waist and big for my butt and legs, they were 40 pesos.

At noon we started out for the beach, stopping in to see if Ann and Doug wanted to go. Doug was feeling a little better so they decided to go with us. They don’t have bikes, and had to walk.
We found the palapa we wanted to set at. Bridget showed up right after we did. We would have put our bikes on the outside of the palapa but Bridget took hers right in to where she was going to set so we did too.

Bridget’s friends were there too. They are also from Canada, he does not speak a lot of English, but he was really trying with us.

It was not too long after we were there that Doug and Ann showed up. Most of us went into the water. Larry stayed with us for a while but went back to the palapa with the other guys.
After our swim, and drying of in the sun we ordered lunch. Larry had fish and I had shrimp. Lunch for both was 190 pesos. Larry had 1 beer and I had a coke with lunch.

We stayed under budget today, pesos was 310, less than $31.00 US
January 16, 2009 Friday viernes
I slept in this morning, must have been tired after yesterday. I let Larry go to Tai Chi class by himself as he was having some problems with some of the movements. I felt he needed some one on one instruction. He did say he had a great class, which Ron really worked on what he was having problems with. No class tomorrow so I will not have had a class for 3 days.

Larry went for a ride to the beach. I stayed in the bungalow to get some work done. When he came back he said that Ann was on her way here. Doug was still sick and she needed to get out for a while. It was fun to have someone visit with us here.

We had a hard time deciding what we were going to do for lunch. I ended up making a sandwich for both of us. We needed to use the last of the ham we had bought anyway.

Late afternoon we went to visit with Ann and Doug. Doug was feeling better so we walked down to the plaza and talked there for a while before getting some tortas to take back to their hotel to eat.

Time slipped by so fast that when we left the hotel it was time to go to the plaza to visit with our friends there. This is the second time we had our bikes at the plaza and the first time I was in shorts and sleeveless top that late at night.

Our first bill for the network we are on for the internet came today, with startup costs our share was 375 pesos. We were told that from now on it should be less than 200 pesos a month. We think it’s a good deal.

We are a little over budget for the day again today but still within our monthly total. We spent around 400 pesos for the day, less than $40.00 US

January 15, 2009 Thursday jueves
I was up at 6 this morning to get ready to go to Tepic with Bridget. We caught the first bus out this morning at 7. The tickets were 42 pesos for one way which is less than $4.20 each. We could have bought round trip tickets for 80 pesos, but we did not know what time we would catch the bus back. For all I know it might not have mattered but they do assign seats on your tickets.
I did recognize some of the people riding the bus, one of the ladies lives on the same street as I do, and she walks by our place several times a day.

We arrived in Tepic around 9:30. We decided to take a taxi from the bus station to the central plaza. The taxi was 30 pesos. It was a wild ride, weaving from lane to lane. He started to turn into a side street but it was blocked off, so there we were stopped in the oncoming traffic lanes. He started hitting the steering wheel with his hand as he was backing up to get back in the lane we were in before. Then he had to set at a red light, which seemed to make him madder as he would hit the steering wheel more and say things that I think I was glad I couldn’t understand.

When we got to the plaza we noticed that most of the stores were not open yet. We walked around the plaza and into the market to look around and to pass time until things opened up.
At 10 we were able to buy our tickets for the 11 o-clock trolley tour of Tepic. Since we had an hour to kill and neither one of us had breakfast we decided to find someplace to eat. We walked up and down the streets by the plaza until I recognized the street the restaurant was on that Larry and I ate at last year. We paid 40 pesos apiece for our breakfast.

We had about 5 minutes before the trolley trip when they told us they didn’t have enough people for the 11 o-clock tour, would we like to wait for the 12 o-clock one or get our 10 pesos back. We decided not to go on the 12 o-clock got our pesos back and started to walk away. We were less than 50 feet away when they called us back as they now have the required amount of people.

When we got up to where the Indians sell their goods we were given 10 minutes that turned into 30 to look around and eat the tacos they make there. The tortillas are blue as they are made from blue corn. Everyone that had one said they were very good.
There was also a new statue up there.

Most of the trolley ride was the same as last year. We didn’t get to go into the ruins this time. I think because the tour started a little late and they like to give you more time to buy things from the Indians on top of the hill.
After the trolley tour I bought 2 small tortilla frying pans that had a painted picture on it. They were 2 for 100 pesos. Then we caught another taxi to Wal-Mart, this time the fare was 25 pesos. I bought a few things that I haven’t been able to find here. I spent 285.14 pesos.

We walked back to the bus station, it was close to 2:30, and we thought that we would have til the 3 o-clock bus. When we bought our tickets she said that it was the 2:45 bus.
We were having a little bit of a problem finding which bus was ours. The driver hadn’t put the name of the town on the window yet, when I spotted the neighbor lady that rode to Tepic with us. She was waving at us to come back to where she was. As that was where the bus was we wanted to catch.

I ended up spending 546.54 pesos or less than $54.65 US. This is over our $35.00 a day budget but we have been under the $35.00 for quite a while.

Larry thought we would be back on the 3 o-clock bus and was waiting for us at the bus station, but didn’t really get out of Tepic until 3:15. So he wasn’t at the station to great us when we got back.
January 14, 2009 Wednesday miércoles
I received an e-mail from Ann saying they were here in San Blas; they are at the same hotel that we meant them at two years ago. We went over there this morning after Tie Chi and had a wonderful visit with them.
This pelican lives at the hoetel, he had a broken wing and can't fly.

We went to the beach but decided it was too overcast to go into the water. We could also see logs in the water that could make swimming there somewhat unpleasant.

On our way back from the beach we stopped in to talk with Ann and Doug again. Doug has a cold. I told Ann about the medicine that Jan helped me get for my cold when we first got here.

Ann walked with me to the place they sell bread and other pastries. It had moved since they were here last. She also wanted to find a better internet place than the one she had used so we walked over to the one I had been using.

We then walked back here to our bungalow so she could see were we lived. I was also able to show her were the Saturday Market was now as it had also moved since they were here last.
We decided to wear long pants and shirts with long sleeves again tonight as the bugs were starting to bite before we left for the plaza.

January 13, 2009 martes
We didn’t do much today. It felt cooler this morning. I wore long pants and a long sleeve shirt to the Tai Chi class.
We did go to the Club for steak dinner. I had the rib eye and Larry had the NY strip. Both were cooked as we asked them to be. His was a little thicker than mine. I may have the NY strip next week. Bridget ate with us again this week. She is a great new friend.
Bridget and I have made planes to go to Tepic this week to do some shopping. It will be interesting to travel without Larry as he has always been the one to get the bus tickets.
Our dinners tonight were 65 pesos each plus drinks, my drink was rum and coke, Larry had a beer. The rum and coke was 40 pesos, the beer was 10, Are dinner for both was 180 pesos. This is less than $18.00 with the current exchange rate.

January 12, 2009 Monday lunes
It was a lot colder last night. We had beautiful full moon that looked a lot bigger than it normally does as it really is closer to the earth this month. This also means the tides are very high and very low. But with the full moon we also have more bugs, the little biting ones. They seemed to start biting earlier tonight. I also got bite by some mosquitoes that left welts on my arm.

We went to the economical for lunch. I had the steak that is like our chicken fried steak and Larry had the fish dish that he had the last time we were there.

Some of the streets are being worked on, new stones put down and new sewer lines are going in. This makes it interesting for riding our bikes. One day the street may be open the next closed. But then some times the workers will help you get through where they are working. Sometimes there may be a small path going through their work were other bike riders have gone before you.

We have been on streets we have never been on before, going around the construction.
We went to the plaza tonight and talked with Bridget and Walter.

Walter and his daughter are leaving on Thursday to go to the Yucatán for two weeks. They will be going by bus, which is a great way to travel down here. I would like to see that area.

January 11, 2009 Sunday domingo
I was up early this morning; it was a lot cooler than it has been. I wore my long sleeve shirt and long paints to our Tai Chi class. Ron showed us the next set or form we need to learn. I think we are ready to try to learn the next step but we still did to work on what we have learned. It needs to be a lot smoother

We wanted to go to breakfast, the one place we were told we could get breakfast at for 35 pesos was not open today. We did talk to the owner she said she would be open tonight at 7 for pizzas.
We rode our bikes all around town and did find a place to get breakfast at, a real Mexican café. We paid 75 pesos for both dishes.

It is a lot colder her today, cloudy and I did feel a few drops of rain but not enough to really say that we had rain.

I received my first Skype call from Linda today; it was so great to be able to talk with a friend and to be able to see her.

January 10, 2009 Saturday sábado
Saturday Market day, I went around 9:30am. I bought some vegetables and a new plant.
While buying the vegetables I overheard a lady telling her husband that she wanted to get some cilantro. As I walked behind her to look at the tomatoes I told her that this vendor gives cilantro when you buy from them.

I saw the same couple a little while latter and told them that I had seen the small bananas, not the red ones, at the vendor just down the street. They asked me if I knew when the market closed as they needed to take their laundry to get done but wanted to buy more before the Saturday market closed.

I could only tell them that some of the vendors start closing around 12:00. They already knew that they needed to get their laundry to the laundry place right away. I did tell them where I take mine.

This couple is sailing down the coast. They are also from Oregon, the North Bend Coos Bay area. I hope I was able to help them with what they needed to know.

We went to the plaza to visit with our friends. I decided to go to the club and try their hamburgers. Larry followed me and had one too. They were good but the bun fell apart which made them kind of hard to eat. Good thing we didn’t get them to go, they would have been hard to eat on the plaza. Both burgers cost 120 pesos or less than 12.00us.

January 9, 2009 Friday viernes
Very early this morning someone shot off 3 loud bottle rockets.

We went to the economical for lunch, Larry had a fish dish. He got 3 fish, rice, beans and salad. I had a chicken dish that I had, had before. Larry said his fish was very good.
Bridget was at the plaza tonight she had not been feeling well, we have not seen her since Tuesday.

This is Ron doing Tai Chi
This is Larry doing Tai Chi

This tree was in the plaza at Santa Cuz
January 8, 2009 Thursday jueves
John Paul and family have been gone for 2 days now. Not sure where they went, he usually tells us when he is going to be out of town so we can water his plants that are in front of the house.
I think John Paul’s friend wanted to go to Mazatlan, as his family was coming down. They have a baby and are afraid of the bugs biting it. I guess I really don’t blame them. The bug bites can be real bad. We have seen people with big welts from the bug bites.
I took my camera to Tai Chi class this morning. We worked on a warm-up routine for the first half of the class. When we work on the routine we are learning I get to this one place and can’t remember what to do next. I know in time and after many tries it will all fit into place.
We bought 4 eggs to cook with the potatoes I bought yesterday. We also bought a liter of milk all for 15 pesos or less than $1.50 US.

Wednesday, January 07, 2009

January 7, 2009 Wednesday miércoles
Monday morning was cooler, clouds rolled in most of the day, keeping the temp down.
Tuesday, we went to the beach. It was very windy. Larry did go in the water; the waves were higher than normal, for here. The fish boats did not go out due to the high waves; they were not bigger than 3 feet. At home in Oregon, it is nothing for our waves to be 3 feet high. We have gone out deep sea fishing in higher waves than 3 feet.
Today after Tai Chi we caught the gray bus to Santa Cruz. We thought it was on the beach but the walk to the beach from town was about a mile. We did not make it to the beach.
We did get to see a lot of smaller villages between here and Santa Cruz that we had not seen before. The bus to Santa Cruz was 30 pesos for both of us, and was the same coming back on a better bus. Only on the way back we did not go to some of the smaller villages that we did on the way there.
Larry had a torta in Santa Cruz for 22 pesos, He really did not say but I think it was not as good as the ones he gets here.
I bought a half of a chicken that had been grilled and some baked potatoes for 40 pesos here in San Blas. It was really good chicken and because I did not get the rice and tortillas that come with the chicken he gave me a discount on the price.
For the day we spent 122 pesos or less than $12.20, not including the rent on our bungalow.
We try to keep our budget at $35 US a day when we are not traveling to other parts of Mexico. So far in the last 3 years we have been able to do this. Some days here we may spend $10.00 including our rent, which gives us $25.00 towards the next day for spending on going somewhere else or going out for our Tuesday night steak dinner. Which we can do for less than 200 pesos or $20.00 us including drinks.
The cost is more when you travel, but remember I am saying we live here on an average of $35.00 a day, what I don’t spend of that today I can spend tomorrow, or whenever.
We have never spent more than $1000.00 a month while touring or living the winter months here in Mexico.

January 4, 2009 Sunday domingo
We slept in today, got up at 8:00am.
When I started to go to the Tai Chi class I found Bridget at the end of the block. She was looking for the upstairs apt to see where it was, should she want to rent it for next year. I showed her were the steps were to go up to it.
We both started to walk to the class when we found Ron walking that way. I introduced him to Bridget. Larry arrived right after we did.
We had a good class. Ron worked at helping Bridget on the parts we already knew. He was speaking up more so I could hear more of what he was saying. He also told us more about shifting our weight from foot to foot.
We decided to go to our favorite café for lunch but it was closed when we got there. I had heard about a new pizza place, we rode clear across town to find it was closed between 12:00pm and 7:00pm.
We rode back home and made ham sandwiches with the ham we had bought two nights ago.
We went to the plaza but didn’t stay long, not much was going on. We did stop on our way back and got some hamburgers for 15 pesos each or less than $3.00. They are smaller hamburgers but are better than the cheap ones we get at fast food places at home.

January 2, 2009 Friday viernes
Larry went to his tie-chi lesson this morning. I went to see if I could find a place to watch were he couldn’t see me but was seen. Larry then asked Ron if I could join in, so I started to work out with them today. There is so much to remember.
Larry decided he would like to go to the market to get some vegetables. He was also thinking about getting a fish. We saw a man selling strawberries out of the back of his pick-up. We bought a half kilo which is a little more than 1 pound, for 15 pesos, He would have sold a whole kilo (little over 2 pounds) for 25 pesos.
The vegetables we bought were 2 tomatoes, 4 limes, and an avocado for 14 pesos, less than $1.40 US. If we had waited until tomorrow we could have bought the same for less at the Saturday Market.
One of Larry’s shirts has been missing 2 buttons. We stopped at a store that sells paper and sewing notions. I had looked in it before for buttons and couldn’t see any.
We asked if they had buttons, she pointed to an older man (looked like he was sleeping) setting behind a counter. Behind him was some buttons. We told him we needed red buttons, he found a little container that held several sizes of red buttons. I was able to find four that were the right size. The buttons were $.60 pesos each, which is 41/4 cents. We paid .18 cents for the four buttons.
I have seen this older man in this store before, he is always setting behind the same counter, He must be in charge of the things right there.
We stopped at the cooked pork place on our way back to eat. Larry had a torta, I had 2 tacos and we had drinks for 39 pesos, less than $3.90 US.

January 1, 2009 Thursday jueves
Happy New Year!
We were up this morning before 7:00AM. Music and bottle rockets were going off until early this morning but we must have been tired as we slept really well.
Larry went to his class, I walked over to see how he was doing but it was over before I got there. I asked him if he wanted to go to WALA WALA’s for breakfast, great way to start the New Year. So we did. Breakfast was 125 pesos which would be less than $12.50 US.
The weather here today was much better than it has been the last few days. We decided to go to the beach. We couldn’t believe how many more people were at the beach today, not being a weekend. Ok so it is the first day of the year.
Most of the time one of us sets in the café to watch our things but we went way down the beach where there were only a few people and we were able to go into the water together. We were not so worried about our things that it was really nice to be able to be in the water at together. I have a fear of the waves so it is nice to have Larry with me when I am in the water. I did go out farther than he did for a short time.
I hope that we will be able to go to the beach more now that we have found a place that we feel safe at leaving our bikes and backpacks at.
We went to the plaza, visited with our friends, bought some pina juice, and had a hamburger.
It was a really nice day. We hope to be able to keep going to the beach more. That is something that we really want to do, we just seem to get lazy.

This is the San Blas Social Club.
I will try to get better pictures of it

This is what the fountian looked like with the soap on new years eve day. By evening they had cleaned it out and the fountian was not working for the evening.
Last year there was no water flowing from it, I hope this will not stop it from working.
December 31, 2008 Wednesday miércoles
It is warmer this morning. We were out of tea so I walked down to one of the many stores to get some. Was going to get some vegetables too but the store I went into no longer had any. The tea cost 11 pesos or $1.10 US.
Someone had put soap in the fountain, looked like it had snow on it. Two years ago someone had done the same thing. The fountain was not turned on last year.

We went to our favorite place for lunch. It’s been two weeks since we have been there. We both had Chili Relleno Con Queso. They were a little spicy but not bad. I really like the way he makes them there. Again our meal was 32 pesos each ($3.20 US) which includes the drink, today the drink was strawberry.
It seems that now that we have internet here we don’t go out as much during the day. We are going to have to do something about that.
I discovered sometime this morning that we had no hot water. I heard Tony get a new tank of gas so I thought it wouldn’t be too long before we had hot water again. I wanted to do dishes. I thought I would just heat some water on the stove. I did manage to get the sink full and half of the rinses sink full when the stove stopped working, not broken just not any gas. I was able to get the dishes done.
Couldn’t find Tony to let him know we were out of gas and hot water but did get the message to his wife that we had no hot water. I didn’t know how to say “no gas”.
Around 6:30 I went to the store to get some Pepsi and a light bulb (the one in the kitchen went out) and Tony was there. He told me we would now have hot water, the gas tank had been empty. I was able to shower before going to the plaza.
When I first got to the plaza not many people were there, but as the evening wore on more and more people started show up.
Some of the people were setting of firecrackers, bottle rockets, and small fireworks. This went on long after we had gone back to our bungalow. We were told that they would start dancing in the plaza around 1:00AM and stop around 7:00am. We didn’t stay to see if they did or not but there was a lot of noise and music long into the night.
